Mankind has succumbed to the inevitable – the genetic manipulation of human beings (supposedly for the betterment of mankind). The descendants of this genetic experimentation have become a race of outcasts known as “muters.” A faction of dissident muters (based in a mining colony on Venus) has begun to wage a terrorist campaign on earth, hacking military robots and turning them into instruments of terror.  Davida (30’s, linguistic programmer, non-muter) is selected to go on a mission to the mining colony to discover how the terrorists are hacking the robots.  While on Venus, Davida falls in love with a muter, putting herself and her lover in danger from all sides. 

A fascinating, psychologically acute thriller set in a fully-realized, complex, decadent world. A host of rich characters and surprising, suspense-filled (sometimes humorous) action make it an entertaining story. Passion and a complex moral drama make it a compelling story.
